In this article, we'll walk you through the process of integrating your SmarterSends instance with your Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) account using the Enhanced Package (v2) integration.
Prerequisites
To integrate SmarterSends with SFMC, you will need to create a Server-to-Server API Package in your Salesforce Marketing Cloud account and have your Business Unit MID and SFTP credentials ready.
Create an Installed Package
1. Log in to Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
2. Navigate to Setup > Platform Tools > Apps > Installed Packages.
3. Click New, enter a name (e.g., "SmarterSends"), and click Save.
4. Click Add Component and select API Integration.
5. Select Server-to-Server as the integration type and click Next.
6. Grant the following Scopes (ensure you enable both Read and Write where available):
Data: Data Extensions (Read, Write)
Email: (Read, Write, Send)
Saved Content: (Read, Write)
Audiences: (Read, Write)
List and Subscribers: (Read, Write)
File Locations: (Read, Write)
Tracking Events: (Read)
Automations: (Execute, Read, Write)
Provisioning Accounts: (Read)
7. Click Save. You will now see your Client ID, Client Secret, and Authentication Base URI.
8. Whitelisting IP Addresses: If your account requires IP restriction, ensure you whitelist the SmarterSends IP address in your Installed Package settings. (Check your SmarterSends dashboard or contact support for the exact IP).
Get your Account MID
Your Account MID (Member ID) is located in the top-right corner of the SFMC interface, displayed under your business unit name. If you have a multi-business unit setup and intend to allow SmarterSends the ability to use all BUs, ensure the MID you select is the Parent MID.
Configure SFTP
SmarterSends uses SFMC's SFTP for high-volume data imports.
1. Navigate to Setup > Administration > Data Management > FTP Accounts.
2. Ensure an FTP user is active. The username typically matches your Account MID.
3. Note the password for this FTP account.
Integration Steps
1. In SmarterSends, navigate to Settings > Integrations > Email
2. Select Salesforce Marketing Cloud v2 from the Email Service Provider dropdown.
3. Complete the following fields:
