Release Notes - March 31, 2022 – Help Center

We are happy to announce a number of new features and changes to the SmarterSends platform! New features will be released on March 31, 2022 for all customers. We've also detailed some of the changes made in the first quarter of 2022.

Smart Merge Tags and Content Areas

With Smart merge tags and content areas, you'll be able to:

- quickly identify merge tags through a specific highlighting
- see human-friendly names of content areas and merge tags instead of the raw syntax
  (e.g., Headline Text instead of "%%contentarea32%%"
- select, replace, and style merge tags with just one click

Merge tags and Content Areas will now be highlighted with a dotted border. When you click on a tag, its border will become solid to signify that the entire tag has been selected. The great thing is that after the selection, you can style, replace, or delete the merge tag/content area with just one click.

Dark Mode Preview

Popular email clients offer a dark mode setting to make reading emails easier on the eyes. By turning light colors dark, it creates a pleasant experience for recipients. But dark mode can mess up emails if they are not designed with this setting in mind. The new "Dark Mode Preview" toggle shows how designs might render with dark mode enabled.

Background Image Settings

This change will bring usability improvements to the Row Background Image allowing you to apply a background image not only to an entire row but to a single content block. A new configuration property on the Settings tab will also be added to allow the use a background image for the entire Email.
